Tryin' to Figure This Out...

Hi everyone! I am SOOO glad you took the time to stop by, and I hope you will return often to see what's new and cookin' here at the Ramblin' Texas Rose blog site.
But first...... ~~~ Now I know I am smart enough to figure out how to create a blog layout...but only if nothing goes haywire...and so far I can't seem to stop gettin' error windows every time I try to fill out my profile for this blog. So you just have to read about me here.... till I get more savvy with the settings for this thing.

MY PROFILE~~~

I am a 50-something wife to my hubby, and mom to 8 beautiful and smart children, and grandmother (Lolli) to 2 gorgeous and brilliant grandsons, Gavin, age 3 and Gideon, a few months, and more to come! The joys of motherhood are now spilling over into grandmotherhood! I love it!
We have lived many places all over America over the past 25 years, but are headed back to our home state of Texas with my hubby's new job. (Hubby and I are both fifth generation Texans, so I guess it's pretty much required to eventually return to the mother country...errr....I mean state. *ha~! :P )
I am a Christian who loves the Lord, but I am not going to hit you over the head with my Bible, so don't worry. However, I do try to live according to God's plan for my life even though I fall faaarrr short every single day. I might post scripture here and there too, so that's a "heads up" to y'all. ~~~
Moving on, more about me....
We homeschool and always have, but we try not to be too geeky about it.. and are hopefully losing the geek factor as time goes on? Sure hope so, since my kids try to make sure of that~and sometimes we are still geeky but hopefully not too often . :)
I love to cook, bake, make up recipes, read cookbooks like novels, read any books like novels, read novels... and watch novels made into movies.
Mostly Gone With the Wind...but also Anne of Green Gables, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park and all the other Jane Austen novels...plus all three Lord of the Rings movies, and the Hobbit which is coming out soon, A Little Princess, The Secret Garden, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Cheaper by the Dozen, How Green Was My Valley, Little Women with Elizabeth Taylor, all the Charles Dickens books and movies, especially A Christmas Carol, Pirates of the Caribbean movies, and plenty more~~~ but I have other stuff to say, so I'll stop about that.
So yeah, I love to sew, hand embroider, smock (as in English Smocking, not smoking a cigar, which Google gets confused about sometimes, sheesh!), quilt, try to crochet, hope to knit someday, and all the other fabric and thread and needle-y types of projects, including making and dressing antique reproduction porcelain dolls. (Haven't done that in ages, kinda got busy with my own little dolls to make and dress....but someday again I hope!)
I love books and old secondhand bookstores, and new bookstores, and libraries. I also have
cookbooks by the score.
I try to grow things every spring and the only things that like my semi green thumb are the low maintenance non picky non fragile plants...apparently roses match that category because after twelve years living here in this house, with 22 rose bushes, only a couple have kind of died and those were NOT my fault I swear. =) In my defense, I planted 3 new from the store (okay, Walmart) which all are doing fine. I inherited the others from the previous homeowner.
I even planted lavender from a package of seeds two years ago and those suckers pop up beautifully every year, more splendid and full than the year before, and I never have to touch 'em. Guess God waters them enough. :)
Well, I could go on and on, but there would be nothing left to write in the blog about . Thank you for coming...and I hope you will enjoy my blog as we go along. Feel free to post anything you want as long as you please don't swear (my children might read this) and please do not start any arguments...this is supposed to be a fun, stress-free zone for us to meet and chatwhile comparing notes on everyday life, food, books, children, entertainment etc. around a cup of tea or coffee or coke (that's Texan for any soft drink, and since you asked, or even if you didn't , Dr. Pepper is my coke of choice ^.~ Just sayin!)
If you want to post your own recipes or contribute in any way, or ask me questions about stuff..feel free!
Love you all , hugs!
Renee'
